What's old is new again.........

It's so strange how things that are old we fall in love with again. This week we have both been falling in love with our pre loved treasures. Sometimes it is just a case of rearranging a room to make you appreciate    the unique items you have. Megan has fallen in love with her old rocking chair and vintage phone (she loves her vintage phone to death, love, love, loves it!!!). Kim has developed a love of old records as art not to mention the idea of learning to crochet again after finding an old 'learn to crochet book' at a local op shop. Maybe this time she will put the idea into action and will be able to crochet some cute patterns from the book (collars and cuffs) and share with you later.  We hope this post has inspired you to rearrange and fall in love with something old again.

This photo was taken while I stripped it back to it's original look.  Now it lives in my office and I use it when I knit.

My favourite is the South Pacific record....when I found this one my heart sang! I love the others as well, they look lovely as wall art.

The fabric on the left is a vintage pillowcase, so lovely! The middle is an off cut of  fabric I plan to craft with and the left is a vintage sheet and I just love the colours.

......some time later.

A lot has happened since our last blog.... We have booked a trip to Japan with some awesome friends in June, crafted a bit and op shopped more than we should have (sometimes secretly without each other). We shopped for supplies at our local Spotlight and got to crafting a bunting, cushions (hand sewn and designed), made doily bowls using the ever faithful 'stiffy' (although we had some issues, it didn't quite live up to it's name!) and revamped a vintage lamp.  We also drew some inspiration from the wonderful Kelly Doust book 'The Crafty Minx' and made paper pinwheels which look great in vases. We have included some images of Georgie Porgie's creations so far enjoy xxxx.

Thanks to FRANKIE magazine (for the inspiration) Megan was able to
create this awesome 'Hello Sailor' cushion for a friends Birthday gift!

Megan's first ever bunting (left) really easy in reality, but of course I had to overcomplicate things and use a hard interfacing to make the flags stiff. I advise not to follow! My second attempt (right) used no interfacing and left over material sewn to a piece of ribbon- such a better outcome- free flowing in the breeze- i love it- it adds some    colour to my dull wall!

Left to Right- transform any old, worn lamp into something bold with an industrial feel- I loved this lamp when I picked it up from the Local Op shop for $7! I loved the old look, but the shade was stained and outdated for my living space. A revamp was in need! Pull of the shade, clean it up, and spray with a gloss paint- I went for royal blue.
